58-year old receives genetically modified pig heart transplant

  A 58-year-old individual became the world's second recipient of a genetically modified pig heart transplant.

  Lawrence Faucette couldn't qualify for a human heart transplant, leaving him with no alternative but to pin his hopes on receiving an organ from a genetically modified pig heart. This week, a 58-year-old man achieved the distinction of becoming the world's second recipient of such a transplant, marking a notable achievement in the expanding realm of medical research.

  Xenotransplantation, the practice of implanting animal organs into humans, holds promise as a potential solution to the ongoing scarcity of human organ donations, with over 100,000 Americans currently awaiting organ transplants.

Panic as gunmen attack Abuja community, kidnapping 7 people

Gunmen invaded Kwaku community in Kuje Area Council of the FCT around 11pm on Friday, abducting seven people and robbing shops.   “They operated for over 30 minutes amid sporadic gunfire without the presence of security personnel,” said a resident, Ishaya Musa, adding that they were yet to establish was contacted by the kidnappers.  It was learned that police officers at Kwaku outpost could not engage them due to the complexity of the weapons they carried.
