Panic as gunmen attack Abuja community, kidnapping 7 people

Gunmen invaded Kwaku community in Kuje Area Council of the FCT around 11pm on Friday, abducting seven people and robbing shops.   “They operated for over 30 minutes amid sporadic gunfire without the presence of security personnel,” said a resident, Ishaya Musa, adding that they were yet to establish was contacted by the kidnappers.  It was learned that police officers at Kwaku outpost could not engage them due to the complexity of the weapons they carried.  A Nigerian woman who was believed to have passed away has apparently experienced a revival.  She fell unconscious and was initially thought to have succumbed to injuries inflicted by her husband. However, signs of life have emerged despite her critical condition.   A neighbor of the victim shared on Twitter that a wife had been fatally beaten by her abusive spouse.  Several hours later, she joyfully shared that the woman displayed vital signs of life while en route to the mortuary. Over 100 lives lost in a tragic wedding fire incident in Iraq.

  Over 100 individuals lost their lives, and over 150 sustained injuries in an event hall in the northern Iraqi town of Qaraqosh when a fire erupted during a wedding, according to early reports from officials on Wednesday. This casualty count was corroborated by Saif al-Badr, a spokesperson for the health ministry, who stated that most of the injured were receiving treatment for burns or oxygen deprivation, noting incidents of overcrowding within the packed reception hall. On Monday, the Benue State Government verified the kidnapping of Mr. Matthew Abo, who serves as the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, along with Mr. Iorwashima Erukaa, a former Chairman of the Ukum Local Government Area (LGA). In a statement, Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, reported that Mr. Abo was seized by armed individuals at his Sankara residence around 8 pm on Sunday, while Mr. Erukaa was taken on Saturday. "The abductors transported both individuals to undisclosed places. They have established communication with Erukaa's family but have not yet made contact with Abo's family," Kula stated.
